This base meditation technique is the foundation of the more advanced meditation such as mediumship meditation which we will be learning later on. It is important to master this technique as it will help your body and mind attain the state needed to become receptive to the energies which surround us.

A background to meditation

Psychic DevelopmentMeditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. It is recognized as a component of many religions, and has been practiced since antiquity. It is also practiced outside religious traditions.

Different meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual and/or psychophysical practices which may emphasize different goals -- from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind. Giving this sense of relaxation and peace, meditation ultimately leads people to find peace within themselves.

Base Meditation Introduction

Learn a simple base meditation technique which once mastered will be expanded upon in later advanced meditation sessions.

Before starting this meditation please make sure you have at least 20 minutes where you will not be disturbed, turn off any phones and find a quiet space.

Step 1

Find a comfortable sitting position, close your eyes and begin to become aware of your breathing.

  • With each breath allow your breathing to become slower.
  • Feel yourself becoming connected with the energy surrounding you after every inhalation.
  • Continue this for about 3-5 minutes until totally relaxed.

Step 2

Clear your mind of all thoughts, focusing solely on your breathing.

  • Concentrate and focus on your breathing, clear your mind of all other thoughts.
  • Focus on the sound of the air filling your lungs.
  • Once you are conscious that your thoughts are clear move to step 3.

Step 3

Become aware of the quietness and peace that surrounds you.

  • Even if there are outside noises you should have blocked them out and become aware of the peace surrounding you.
  • Feel the warmth of the energy that penetrates every part of your body.
  • Allow any negative energy to float away.

Summary

Take serveral minutes to bring yourself back to the normal pace of life. In this session you have learnt to enter and maintain a meditative state slowing the rhythm of your body and release negative energies. Once you have mastered this meditation you will be able to progress to more advanced spiritual meditations.

You should practice this meditation several times a week depending on what feels comfortable for you. The more practice you get the more acustomed you will be to focusing your mind which will greatly improve your psychic development.
